Planning & Travel

The best time depends on what you want to see. For the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara and Serengeti, July to October is usually best. For green scenery, baby animals, and fewer visitors, the green season (November to May) is a great choice. For gorilla trekking in Rwanda or Uganda, the drier months are usually June to September and December to February.

Yes, most travelers need travel approval or a visa. Kenya requires an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before you fly. Tanzania uses an e-Visa for many travelers. If your trip includes Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, the East Africa Tourist Visa can be a smart option, because it allows entry to all three for a flat fee of $100 USD.

Safari Experience

We mainly use 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers built for safari roads. Most have pop-up roofs for easy wildlife viewing and photography, plus charging ports, a fridge/cooler, and radio communication for better coordination in the park.

A typical day starts early, around 6:00 AM, for a morning game drive when animals are most active. After breakfast, many guests relax during the hotter hours. In the late afternoon (around 4:00 PM), you go for another game drive and often enjoy a sundowner before dinner.

No one can guarantee wildlife sightings, because animals move freely. But our guides are highly experienced, and we plan routes in strong wildlife areas like the Masai Mara and Serengeti to improve your chances. If seeing rhinos is important, we can include places known for rhino sightings, such as Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Most lodges and camps offer excellent meals, with both local and international options. If you have dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies), tell us in advance and the lodge will prepare suitable meals.

Health & Packing

Yellow fever vaccination may be required if you are arriving from certain countries or crossing some borders. Malaria tablets are commonly recommended for many safari areas. Please speak to a qualified health professional at least 30 days before your trip for the best advice for your route.

Small aircraft have strict weight limits. In most cases, total luggage should not exceed 15kg (33 lbs) per person, including hand luggage. Soft bags (duffels) are required because they fit better in the aircraft. Many lodges also offer quick laundry services, so you can pack light.

Tipping is optional, but it is appreciated. A common guide tip is $15–$25 USD per person, per day for your main guide. For lodge or camp staff, many places have a shared tip box, and $10–$15 per person, per day is common.
